SA15 - What Can We Learn From the Miracles of Jesus
Tyson was fervent in his faith and believed in the importance of ALL aspects of living a wholesome Christian life, but with the recent emphasis the world now places on PRIDE, he started finding it increasingly more difficult to exercise humility in his daily life.
Everywhere Tyson looked, he couldn't help but notice the prevalent promotion of PRIDE rather than humility. The world around him seemed to prioritize self-gratification, ego-driven success, and an exaggerated sense of one's own abilities. Wherever he looked, people flaunted their accomplishments, seeking validation and admiration. In the workplace, individuals stepped on others to climb the ladder of success. Tyson was surrounded by it in everyday interactions, he would witness arrogance and a lack of empathy. It became clear to him that humility was often overshadowed by a culture that celebrated self-centeredness and a sense of superiority.
Every week, Tyson would sit and wonder how he could truly humble himself before God. He knew that humility was essential to worship, and a prerequisite in being accepted by God. The challenge outlined the complexity of the situation. Tyson had various personal reasons for failing to display humility. Even if he didn't openly show it, there were moments when arrogance would secretly creep into his heart.
Ego and pride were constant battles, as the desire for recognition and self-importance often clouded his mind. Society's influence also played a significant role, due to the world’s emphasis on personal success and achievements. It was hard for Tyson to resist the temptation to seek validation and praise for all his successes.
Furthermore, the fear of being overlooked haunted him. Tyson worried that if he didn't assert himself or showcase his abilities, he would be forgotten in the shadows. Insecurities about his own worth and capabilities often clashed with his desire to remain humble.
As Tyson reflected on these struggles, he realized that external influences also played a significant part in his journey toward humility. The world bombarded him with messages of power, wealth, and dominance, making it almost impossible to stay grounded and humble.
Despite these challenges, Tyson was determined to overcome them. He knew that shedding the old behaviors and adopting a new personality was crucial for his spiritual growth. But how could he divorce himself from a trait that was so deep inside of him and a part of his core being?
A brother suggested he research 3 characters from the bible, (Diotrephes, Uzziah and Absalom). Through examination, he discovered that Diotrephes arrogantly sought to have “the first place” in the congregation. (3 John 9) Then Uzziah too, proudly tried to perform a task that Jehovah had not assigned him to do. (2 Chronicles 26:16-21) And finally, Absalom who slyly tried to win the support of the public because he wanted to be king. (2 Samuel 15:2-6) All these Bible accounts helped Tyson to see that Jehovah is never pleased with someone who seeks their own glory.
With each passing day, he made a conscious effort to walk with the confidence of knowing that Jehovah noticed and valued even the simplest acts of humility and compassion. He reached out to those around him, listened to their stories, and showed empathy by following the person's thought pattern, being present to what they were saying, and always remembering to show true understanding before simply regurgitating what he felt were his honest thoughts. That way when he offered support, those around him knew that he truly cared.
Through his actions, Tyson began to realize that true humility wasn't about self-deprecation or downplaying his own significance. It was about recognizing the worth and value of every individual, regardless of their circumstances. He discovered that by lifting others up, he could truly humble himself before Jehovah.
In his newfound humility, he experienced a deeper connection with everyone around him and with God. His worship became more heartfelt, as his faith grew stronger. In shaking off his prideful self, Tyson understood that true humility was a lifelong journey, something that he committed himself to continually seek in his life.
The largest change though was understanding that the humility that Jesus displayed wasn't a sign of weakness but a true source of strength, a strength that is required to serve God properly. Jesus, a perfect man, did not boast about his miracles; in fact, he never boasted about his accomplishments. On the contrary, Jesus humbly and repeatedly gave all glory and credit to his Father. (John 5:19) As an imitator of Christ, this realization was the key to unlocking a deeper understanding of his faith and a pathway to true compassion and love.
By imitating Jesus and maintaining a humble view of himself, Tyson no longer boasted about his achievements. Recognizing that no matter what he may do in Jehovah’s service, there was no need in making it about himself. He instead chose to use these opportunities to boast about the wonderful God he had the privilege of serving. (Jeremiah 9:23, 24)
Let us follow Jesus’ example by giving Jehovah all due credit, understanding that there is nothing good that is accomplished without Jehovah’s help. (1 Corinthians 1:26-31)
Thank you for reading,
-Soli Jehova Gloria (1 Corinthians 10:31)

I commented on the subject of hospitality in the East and how Jesus not only saved the bride and groom from humiliation and embarrassment, but 130 gallons of FINE WINE allowed the newly married couple to relax, enjoy the occasion AND have wine left over to sell leaving them a ‘financial wedding gift’ – being raised in the area Jesus gave a superabundance gift of hospitality to this couple with love.
Thank you for reminding us about those 3 Bible characters. Definitely going to add it to my personal study routine.
