SA39 - Enjoy the Greater
Happiness That Comes From Giving
Jehovah designed humans to experience greater happiness in giving than receiving, as reflected in Acts 20:35. By imitating Jehovah’s generosity and seeking more opportunities to give, we can increase our joy and maintain a fulfilling sense of happiness.
ENJOY THE GREATER HAPPINESS THAT COMES FROM GIVING
- Jehovah created us to experience greater happiness in giving than in receiving (Acts 20:35).
- While receiving gifts brings joy, giving provides a deeper sense of happiness.
- Jehovah designed us this way, allowing us to influence our happiness by seeking more opportunities to give.
IMITATE JEHOVAH’S GENEROSITY
- Jehovah is the original and greatest Giver, providing for all our needs out of love (James 1:17, Matthew 6:25-26).
- We can imitate Jehovah’s generosity by giving materially to those in need (Hebrews 13:16).
- Jehovah shares power with us, and we can also use our strength to help others, like assisting elderly brothers or maintaining the Kingdom Hall.
- Words have power, and we can offer sincere comfort and encouragement to fellow believers (Proverbs 12:25, Ephesians 4:29).
- Jehovah gives wisdom generously, and we too can share our knowledge and experiences with others, especially in training (James 1:5, Psalm 32:8).
IF OUR GIVING SEEMS UNAPPRECIATED
- Happiness in giving does not depend on others' appreciation; it is based on imitating Jehovah’s example (Luke 6:35).
- Focus on giving without expecting repayment and you will experience greater happiness (Luke 14:12-14).
- Do not question others' motives if appreciation is not expressed; some may be embarrassed or simply forget (Ephesians 4:2, 1 Corinthians 13:7).
- Be patient as expressions of gratitude may come later, as illustrated by the circuit overseer’s wife receiving a letter of appreciation after many years.
CONCLUSION
- We experience greater joy in giving, whether or not others express gratitude.
- Jehovah always rewards our generosity, and we cannot outgive Jehovah (2 Chronicles 25:9). Let us continue to imitate our generous heavenly Father.
Thank you for reading,
-Soli Jehova Gloria (1 Corinthians 10:31)

For family worship tonight, we went over the crossword. It was filled with such a refreshing reminders. I found one error that I thought I’d mention:
Clue 5: “When did the circuit overseer’s wife receive a response to her encouraging this letter to the sister?” Remove “this”
Otherwise it was perfect! ❤️🙏
Love this summary, I think it’s a great reference to refer to in the future.
Great article. Very encouraging. Even when someone does not show or express appreciation for you gift.
The final paragraph got me to thinking, “we cannot outgive Jehovah” he is a motivating and comforting reminder that everything ties together by focusing on Jehovah’s promise to repay the generosity he gives us by giving to others.
I haven’t received the emails in a while so I thought you’d stopped. Glad you’re back. Love the summary but I miss your stories. I found that they really drove the point of the lesson home. Wishing you the best, and thank you for the generous gift that you give us in these Watchtower crosswords.
