Show Appreciation for “Gifts in Men”SA42 - Show Appreciation for “Gifts in Men”

Jesus generously provides support for his congregation by giving "gifts in men," such as ministerial servants, elders, and circuit overseers, to strengthen and equip his followers. We can show appreciation for their efforts by offering practical support and recognizing their hard work as a reflection of Jesus' love and care.

  • Jesus' Generosity

No one has been as generous as Jesus; he used his miraculous power to help others. (Luke 9:12-17)
  • Jesus' greatest gift was his life, given for mankind. (John 15:13)
  • Since his resurrection, Jesus has shown generosity by pouring out holy spirit to teach and comfort us. (John 14:16, 17; 16:13)
  • Through congregation meetings, Jesus equips Christians to disciple globally. (Matthew 28:18-20)
  • “Gifts in Men”

Jesus gave "gifts in men" to support congregations. (Ephesians 4:7, 8)
  • These gifts include ministerial servants, elders, circuit overseers, and others in roles of service. (Ephesians 1:22, 23; 4:11-13)
  • While imperfect, these men are vital instruments used by Jesus to help congregations. (James 3:2)

MINISTERIAL SERVANTS PROVIDING “HELPFUL SERVICES”
  • Roles and Responsibilities

In the first century, ministerial servants handled practical tasks so elders could focus on teaching. (1 Timothy 3:8; 1 Corinthians 12:28)
  • Today, they manage congregation accounts, territories, literature, equipment, and Kingdom Hall maintenance. (1 Peter 4:10; 1 Corinthians 14:40)
  • Ministerial servants may also assist elders in shepherding calls and deliver talks.
  • Benefits to the Congregation

Their work ensures meetings are organized, resources are available, and the congregation runs smoothly.
  • Their support lightens elders' workloads, allowing them to focus on spiritual responsibilities.
  • Congregation members feel supported and grateful for their efforts.
  • How to Show Appreciation

Be thankful and express it. (Colossians 3:15)
  • Send notes of encouragement or pray specifically for their needs. (2 Corinthians 1:11)

CONGREGATION ELDERS “WORKING HARD AMONG YOU”
  • Elders’ Responsibilities

Elders lead congregation meetings, provide loving counsel, and ensure congregation purity. (1 Thessalonians 5:12, 13)
  • They are evangelizers and shepherds, organizing ministry and training members. (1 Peter 5:1-3)
  • Many assist with additional tasks, such as construction projects and hospital liaison work.
  • Supportive Shepherding

Jehovah promised capable shepherds who would bring comfort and security. (Jeremiah 23:4)
  • Elders' patience and prayers strengthen congregation members during trials.
  • How to Show Gratitude

Acknowledge their hard work and encourage them with kind words.
  • Write notes, invite them for meals, or join them in ministry. (1 Corinthians 16:18)

CIRCUIT OVERSEERS TO BUILD UP
  • Purpose and Sacrifices

Circuit overseers, like Paul and Barnabas, build up congregations through teaching and encouragement. (Acts 11:22; 15:40, 41)
  • They travel extensively, deliver talks, organize assemblies, and handle urgent matters.
  • Impact on Congregations

Their visits inspire greater unity and zeal among congregation members.
  • Their warmth and encouragement are deeply appreciated, especially during challenging times.
  • How to Show Support

  • Show hospitality, pray for their well-being, and express gratitude with kind words or modest gifts. (Proverbs 12:25; 3 John 5-8)

REMEMBER THEIR WIVES
  • Their Sacrifices

Wives of appointed men often make personal sacrifices so their husbands can serve.
  • They are like Jehovah’s “precious daughters,” lending their husbands to the congregation.
  • How to Show Gratitude

Thank them for their sacrifices and be considerate of their family priorities. (1 Timothy 3:4, 5, 12)
  • Pray for their strength and well-being. (Proverbs 19:14)

WE NEED “GIFTS IN MEN”
  • Call for More Brothers to Serve

The need for ministerial servants and elders continues globally.
  • Baptized brothers should ask themselves if they can reach out and qualify. (Proverbs 3:27)
  • Encouragement to Serve

Ministerial service benefits the congregation and deepens one’s relationship with Jehovah.
  • Consider how you can contribute to the congregation’s spiritual and practical needs.
