Jehovah “Heals the Brokenhearted”
SA40 - Jehovah “Heals the Brokenhearted”

Jehovah deeply cares for those suffering from emotional wounds, tenderly offering support and comfort to help them heal. This article explores how he alleviates grief through his Word and loving advice, encouraging individuals to trust and apply his guidance for emotional recovery.

JEHOVAH HEALS THE BROKENHEARTED

  • Jehovah deeply cares for those suffering from emotional wounds and is eager to provide support and comfort.
  • Psalm 147:3 describes Jehovah as one who “binds up the wounds” of the brokenhearted, tenderly caring for their emotional needs.
  • To benefit from Jehovah’s care, we must trust and follow his loving guidance, much like a patient following a skilled doctor’s instructions.
  • Through his Word, Jehovah offers practical advice to help us heal and comforts us with the assurance of his love and attention.

JEHOVAH ASSURES US OF OUR WORTH

  • Even in a world devoid of love, Jehovah values us deeply and draws close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).
  • Jehovah sees good in our hearts and takes notice of our faith and love, even if others have mistreated or devalued us.
  • Jesus’ example reflects Jehovah’s compassion, showing care for those marginalized and commending faith and good qualities (Matthew 9:9-12).
  • When doubts about our worth persist, meditate on scriptures like Psalm 94:19 and Luke 12:6-7, which affirm Jehovah’s deep interest in us.
  • Jehovah has reasonable expectations of us and does not hold us accountable for others' wrong actions, such as past abuse.
  • Life experiences, even difficult ones, equip us to empathize with and help others, just as Helen found renewed purpose in serving as a pioneer.

JEHOVAH WANTS US TO ACCEPT HIS FORGIVENESS

  • Jehovah provided the ransom out of love and desires that we accept his forgiveness, letting go of past regrets (Isaiah 1:18).
  • Jehovah no longer holds our sins against us once we’ve repented and set matters straight (Psalm 103:9, 12).
  • Focus on the present and future, as Paul did, rather than dwelling on past mistakes (Philippians 3:13-15).
  • When possible, repair damage caused by past actions and seek Jehovah’s help to support those affected (2 Corinthians 7:11).
  • Jehovah is patient and willing to use us despite past failures, as seen in the example of Jonah, who received a second chance to fulfill his assignment.

JEHOVAH COMFORTS US THROUGH HOLY SPIRIT

  • Jehovah uses his holy spirit to comfort us in times of trauma or loss, granting us peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:6, 7).
  • Holy spirit empowers us to endure and overcome feelings of weakness, as Flora experienced after a painful betrayal (Ephesians 3:16).
  • To benefit from holy spirit, engage in activities that allow it to operate, such as attending meetings, witnessing, and daily Bible reading (Philippians 4:8, 9).
  • Meditate on Bible accounts, such as Joseph’s, to see how Jehovah strengthens his people through trials (Genesis 39:21-23).

JEHOVAH COMFORTS US THROUGH FELLOW BELIEVERS

  • Fellow believers are “a source of great comfort” and an expression of Jehovah’s love (Colossians 4:11).
  • Brothers and sisters provide emotional and practical support, offering prayers, scriptures, and assistance during distress (Romans 15:4).
  • To receive help, be willing to share your feelings and needs with mature friends or trusted elders (Proverbs 17:17).
  • Avoid isolation despite painful emotions; maintaining association with others provides essential encouragement and strength (James 3:2).

TAKE COMFORT IN JEHOVAH’S PROMISES OF HEALING

  • Jehovah promises complete healing from all physical and emotional pain in the future (Revelation 21:3, 4).
  • The hurtful things of the past will not “come up into the heart” in the new world (Isaiah 65:17).
  • Even now, Jehovah ‘binds up our wounds,’ offering comfort through his provisions and the assurance that “he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

Great summary. Even when life feels unbearable, Jehovah’s love reminds us we’re not alone, He’s got our back every step of the way because Jehovah gets what we’re going through better than anyone else, and He’s ready to give us the peace and strength we need.

I agree Kylie. Jehovah’s forgiveness shows that no wound is too deep for Him to heal, His love reassures us that we are never beyond His care.
